TOC Protocol

One of two protocols to the AOL Instant Messaging servers. The "native" AIM protocol is a lot more complicated and is called OSCAR. TOC is a simplified text protocol that has reduced functionality.

There aren't any especially good docs we've found on either protocol, but if you do a web search you'll find some stuff. The most reliable info is from trial and error.

AIM has all kinds of rate limits and restrictions to prevent denial-of-service, so one thing to be aware of is that they'll throw off your program if you connect too often, send too much data, look at the server funny, etc.
