Research
From Mugshot Developer Wiki
A tool in the design thinking toolbox.
Start with facts, not speculation.
We're especially interested in ethnography; often qualitative understanding of people. What do they need? What do they want? What problems do they face?
[edit]
To Research, You Might
- Conduct ethnographic observation
- Looks for relevant studies and surveys
- Review the history of the issue, noting any existing obstacles
- Collect examples of related or similar efforts
- Note the project's supporters, investors, and critics
- Invent novel ways to learn about a problem.
[edit]
Resources
- Pew Internet and American Life project has all kinds of survey results and stats about how people use technology
- Why We Buy by Paco Underhill is a fun application of ethnography to daily life
(FIXME add some stuff here on how to do ethnography, etc.)
