Ethnography

The Wikipedia article on ethnography defines it as "the qualitative description of human social phenomena, based on fieldwork," which is pretty much what we mean by it here.

Go make some Ethnographic Observations: look at what people do, and try to characterize it. In a project like Mugshot, we're especially interested in finding problems people are having, things about their life that could be better, or the kinds of things they really love to do; then we could work to offer new solutions or new experiences in those areas.

(FIXME - we need some pointers here about how to do quick ethnography for design purposes)
